Brilliant, amber-coloured wine specialty with a distinctively intense, unique, and rich aroma. The flavours and aromas strongly feature raisins, dried figs, and dates. The mouthfeel is lively, citrusy, and the high sugar content is extremely well-balanced by the acids. Full-bodied, complex, layered dessert wine with endless finish.
Individually handpicked and selected Hárslevelű and Furmint aszú grapes were soaked in clean, fermenting Furmint base wine. The soaking lasted for 24 hours. The aim of soaking is to enrich the material to be pressed with the alcohol and carbon dioxide produced during the onset of fermentation. This Aszú was aged for 30 months in Szerednye-type, Zemplén oak barrels, then bottled. It was then further aged in the bottle for another 24 months.
The winter was moderately cold but rather dry. Spring was typical for the season, with less precipitation than average. Summer brought extreme heat and torrential showers. Harvest started on 11 September. Autumn weather was moderately warm and dry. Both the dry wines and the aszú grapes yielded high quality, resulting in well-balanced wines worthy of ageing.
